On September 16, 2026, Attorney Yohei Kijima delivered a presentation to the Kansai Compliance Subcommittee of the Japan Pharmaceutical Industry Legal Affairs Association (“IHOKEN”) entitled:

“Psychological Safety and Healthcare Compliance:
Making Speak Up, Tone at the Top and Accountability a Matter of Executive Ownership.”

The presentation approached psychological safety not merely as a workplace culture or whistleblowing issue, but as an information infrastructure that enables management to receive, assess and act upon important information from within the organization.

Drawing on concepts including Speak Up, Tone at the Top and Middle, Accountability, and recent approaches to compliance program evaluation by the U.S. Department of Justice, the presentation explored how healthcare companies can translate early indications of risk into effective management decisions that protect patients, companies and society.
